Book #4 of the summer is finished! Kasie West is always a great go to for an easy, quick read! Our students will like this one as much as her previous novels.
From Goodreads.com:
Talking to other people
isn't Kate Bailey's favorite activity. She'd much rather be out on the
lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend,
Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school's podcast, Kate is not
expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she'll have to answer calls and
give advice on the air? Impossible.
But to Kate's surprise, she
turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in
a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed
crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez,
and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for
her friend ... until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego.
Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy,
asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice
is even harder.
Kasie West's adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.

Where I Live...
Summer book #3 is finished. I'd rate this one 3.5 out of 5⭐. Quick read that dives into teenage homelessness.
From Goodreads.com:
Linden Rose has a big secret--she is homeless and living in the halls of her small-town high school. Her position as school blog editor, her best friends, Ham and Seung, and the promise of a future far away are what keep Linden under the radar and moving forward.
But when cool-girl Bea comes to school with a bloody lip, the damage hits too close to home. Linden begins looking at Bea's life, and soon her investigation prompts people to pay more attention. And attention is the last thing she needs.
Linden knows the only way to put a stop to the violence is to tell Bea's story and come to terms with her own painful past. Even if that means breaking her rules for survival and jeopardizing the secrets she's worked so hard to keep.

All the Little Lights...
Book #2 for the summer is complete. I'd give this one 4 out of 5 ⭐. Different than most of her books. If I was a rereader, I'd want to go back and see what I missed!
From Goodreads.com:
The first time Elliott Youngblood spots Catherine Calhoun, he’s just a boy with a camera, and he’s never seen a sadder and more beautiful sight. Both Elliott and Catherine feel like outcasts, yet they find an easy friendship with each other. But when Catherine needs him most, Elliott is forced to leave town.
Elliott finally returns, but he and Catherine are now different people. He’s a star high school athlete, and she spends all her free time working at her mother’s mysterious bed-and-breakfast. Catherine hasn’t forgiven Elliott for abandoning her, but he’s determined to win back her friendship…and her heart.
Just when Catherine is ready to fully trust Elliott, he becomes the prime suspect in a local tragedy. Despite the town’s growing suspicions, Catherine clings to her love for Elliott. But a devastating secret that Catherine has buried could destroy whatever chance of happiness they have left.

All the Ugly and Wonderful Things...
Finished my first book of the summer! It's been about a month since I had any motivation to read. This one was a little unsettling to me but I couldn't put the book down.
From Goodreads.com:
As the daughter of a meth dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. Struggling to raise her little brother, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible "adult" around. She finds peace in the starry Midwestern night sky above the fields behind her house. One night everything changes when she witnesses one of her father's thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold, wreck his motorcycle. What follows is a powerful and shocking love story between two unlikely people that asks tough questions, reminding us of all the ugly and wonderful things that life has to offer.
