Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

First there was Christian Gray...then there was Gideon Cross...now there's Travis Maddox! If you haven't read Beautiful Disaster, you need to pick up a copy because you won't be able to put it down! Best news I heard was this book is being made into a movie! I can't wait! This book has yet to be on the shelf for more than an hour in the library since it was processed. The followup to this book will be from Travis' point of view. I can't wait to see what that pretty little mind of his was thinking about Abby.

From Goodreads.com: INTENSE. DANGEROUS. ADDICTIVE. Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

“I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. Turns out it  wasn’t something about you at all. It was just you.”

Reason to Breathe...You'll be Holding Your Breathe!

This book will have you holding your breathe! It's extremely disturbing but in a disturbing, can't put the book down, sort of way. You'll want to make sure you have the second book Barely Breathing on hand. The final book in the trilogy is set for release in June 2013. I'm counting down! Book one leaves you hanging. Make sure you set plenty of time aside for this one because you won't want to stop reading!

From Goodreads.com: "No one tried to get involved with me, and I kept to myself. This was the place where everything was supposed to be safe and easy. How could Evan Mathews unravel my constant universe in just one day?" He knows there’s something more to the girl sitting in the back of the class the moment he sees her. She’s beautiful, intelligent, and athletic – but she slips quietly through the crowded halls, trying not to exist. Determined to get to know the elusive girl, Evan soon discovers… Emma Thomas is hiding a terrible secret. Reason to Breathe is an electrifying page turner from start to finish, a unique tale of life-changing love, unspeakable cruelty, and one girl’s fragile grasp of hope.

In the balance of love and loss, it was love that made me struggle to breathe.

Slammed

After much posting to my Facebook page regarding books that I've read, I've decided to blog about my "Reading Raves" in hopes of reaching more people who share a love of reading! During the Christmas break, I've read multiply books that are worthy of ranting about. Read on to find a new book to try...
Slammed by Colleen Hoover was the first book I picked up to start my holiday break. I read this book in one sitting. I literally could not put the book down. I was happy to say the person who recommended this great title to me (thanks, Mandy!) suggested I purchase the followup book. I'm happy to say she didn't steer me wrong! I was up until the wee hours of the next morning finishing this great book. You'll have a hard time putting this one down!

From the Amazon website: Falling in love can feel like poetry. Or it can feel like a slam to the heart. Colleen Hoover’s romantic, emotion-packed debut novel unforgettably captures all the magic and confusion of first love, as two young people forge an unlikely bond before discovering that fate has other plans for them. Following the unexpected death of her father, eighteen-year-old Layken becomes the rock for both her mother and younger brother. She appears resilient and tenacious, but inside, she's losing hope. Then she meets her new neighbor Will, a handsome twenty-one-year-old whose mere presence leaves her flustered and whose passion for poetry slams thrills her. Not long after a heart-stopping first date during which each recognizes something profound and familiar in the other, they are slammed to the core when a shocking discovery brings their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together and the forces that tear them apart. Only through the poetry they share are they able to speak the truth that is in their hearts and imagine a future where love is cause for celebration, not regret.

There are three questions every woman should be able to answer yes to before they commit to a man:
1. Does he treat you with respect at all times?
2. If he is the exact same person twenty years from now that he is today, would you still want to marry him?
3. Does he inspire you to want to be a better person?
